【摘要】:Thistestmethodsimulatestheenvironmentencounteredbyfullyformulatedlubricatingfluidsinactualserviceandusesanacceleratedoxidationratetopermitmeasurableresultstobeobtainedinareasonabletime.Theuseofmetalsprovidescatalyticreactivesurfacesofthosematerialscommonlyfoundinrealsystems.Thehightemperatureandairagitationhelpacceleratetheoxidationreactionsthatareexpectedtooccur.Moistureintheairaddsanotherrealisticconditionthatencouragesoilbreakdownbyfacilitatingacidformation.Interpretationofresultsshouldbedonebycomparisonwithdatafromoilsofknownfieldperformance.Theacceleratedconditionslikelywillcauseoneormoreofthefollowingmeasurableeffects:masschangeandcorrodedappearanceofsomemetals;changeofviscosity;increaseinacidnumber;measurablereactionproductsintheformofsludge;andmasslossofoilduetoevaporation.Thistestmethodismostsuitableforoilscontainingoxidationandcorrosioninhibitors.Withoutsuchingredient(s),theseveretestconditionswillyieldratherdrasticchangestotheoil.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthetestingofhydraulicoils,aircraftturbineenginelubricants,andotherhighlyrefinedoilstodeterminetheirresistancetooxidationandcorrosiondegradationandtheirtendencytocorrodevariousmetals.Petroleumandsyntheticfluidsmaybeevaluatedusingmoistordryairwithorwithoutmetaltestspecimens.1.2Thistestmethodconsistsofastandardtestprocedure,analternativeProcedure1,andanalternativeProcedure2.Astherearevariationspossiblewiththistestmethod,itwillbeuptotheparticularspecificationtoestablishtheconditionsrequired.Inadditiontotemperature,thevariablestospecifyifotherthanthoseofthestandardprocedureoralternativeProcedure1or2are:testtime,airflowandhumidity,samplefrequency,testfluidquantity,andmetalspecimen(s).1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3.1Exception8212;Thevaluesinparenthesesinsomeofthefiguresareprovidedforinformationonlyforthoseusingoldequipmentbasedonnon-SIunits.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
