【摘要】:Thistestmethodisaperformancetestintendedasadesignaidusedtodeterminetheabilityofgeomembranestowithstandthestressesandstrainsimposedunderdesignconditions.Thistestmethodassiststhedesignengineerincomparingseveralcandidategeomembranesunderspecifictestconditions.Asaperformancetest,thismethodisnotintendedforroutineacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentsofgeomembranes.Othermoreeasilyperformedtestmethods,suchasTestMethodsD751orTestMethodD882,canbeusedforroutineacceptancetestingofgeomembranes.Thistestmethodwillbeusedrelativelyinfrequently,andtoestablishperformancecharacteristicsofgeomembranematerials.5.2.1Thereisnoknowncorrelationbetweenthistestmethodandindextestmethods,suchasTestMethodsD751.Allgeomembranescanbetestedbythismethod.Somemodificationoftechniquesmaybenecessaryforagivengeomembranedependinguponitsphysicalmake-up.Specialadaptationsmaybenecessarywithstronggeomembranesorgeomembraneswithextremelyslicksurfaces,topreventthemfromslippingintheclampsorbeingdamagedbytheclamps.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheperformancestrengthofsyntheticgeomembranesbysubjectingwidestripsofmaterialtotensileloading.1.2Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementoftensilestrengthandelongationofgeomembranesandincludesdirectionsforcalculatinginitialmodulus,offsetmodulus,secantmodulus,andbreakingtoughness.1.3Thebasicdistinctionsbetweenthistestmethodandothermethodsmeasuringtensilestrengthofgeomembranesarethewidthofthespecimenstestedandthespeedofappliedforce.Thegreaterwidthofthespecimensspecifiedinthistestmethodminimizesthecontractionedgeeffect(necking)whichoccursinmanygeosyntheticsandprovidesacloserrelationshiptoactualmaterialbehaviorinservice.Theslowerspeedofappliedstrainalsoprovidesacloserrelationshiptoactualmaterialbehaviorinservice.1.4Asaperformancetest,thismethodwillbeusedrelativelyinfrequently,andtotestlargelotsofmaterial.Thistestmethodisnotintendedforroutinequalitycontroltestingofgeomembranes.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
